The humble beginnings
I have finally replaced the picnic table!! Well, it had to be done before Christmas, but I am glad that table (bought at an expensive camping shop in the New Forest last year) has really had its money’s worth now!

We struggled with naming this room – it used to be the cinema room because that’s where we have the projector and screen set up, but that sounded far too grand for a room about 9′ by 7′! So now it’s the den. Again, my daughter wanted to watch films in there with her friends, so her birthday party was the deadline to get it done.

Part way through the job.
I just can’t seem to start one thing and finish it. I left the kitchen alone for a couple of weeks and focussed on the rooms in the cellar. My eldest daughter wanted to use it for her birthday party, and I welcomed the change of scenery.

Part way through the job.
Two days after the plane landed in England, I’m to be found ignoring the suitcases in the middle of the living room floor (the weather was too wet to dry the washing anyway), sledge hammer in hand and bashing down a couple of walls at the top of the cellar stairs. I do have a good reason though…
