The Saharan Motor Hotel, Hollywood, California

Just a quick review of the place we stayed at in Hollywood…

We chose this place because unfortunately the motel 6 we stayed at last time was fully booked by the time we got round to organising ourselves. It was a 10 minute walk to Hollywood Boulevard and the start of the stars in the pavement. Another 5 minutes to Mann’s Chinese theatre. It was relatively cheap and had free parking. There was a small breakfast included with fresh fruit juice, tea, coffee, cereal, toast and waffles; and free wifi which was at a reasonable speed.

hollywoodhotelThe first impression of the room was good, but was let down by the cleanliness in the bathroom. There was a cluster of hairs left on the floor and the doorframe was filthy. Loo and sink spotless, but it was like the cleaner hadn’t been told to clean the doorframe so she didn’t. The grout had come out of the floor tiles and they were all cracked and wobbly. Also my feet were black from walking on the carpet – it needs a good wash.

Otherwise, a good basic motel in a quiet road close to central Hollywood with a very friendly person at reception. Also a handy supermarket just across the road.

Overseas,
