Typhoon Lagoon

Another of Disney’s water parks…

The main attraction of this park is the wave pool. You may be thinking of the odd swimming pool in this country with a wave machine. Oh no, oh no! This wave machine makes waves that are HUGE! The family and I positioned ourselves in a depth of just above waist height thinking we’d be fine. Again, Oh no! My bikini bottoms went up my bum (they are shorts style – nothing skimpy), Jude’s vest top came down; you are literally thrown and pummelled around an I ended up underwater practically sitting on top of some random man. Unfortunately on the second wave I was thrown onto the bottom of the pool where my knee scraped on the rough concrete surface and walked out of the pool with blood dripping down my leg. I still have a pink patch on my knee. So this is a warning – be very careful and only allow strong swimmers in, and bare in mind, that even in the large bit that is normally ankle deep; when a wave comes along, it becomes thigh high. Don’t think of wearing any jewellery or glasses that might come off (no glasses strap is strong enough – I wore prescription goggles).

The lazy river is just as lovely as Blizzard beach, but there isn’t a family raft ride that’s anywhere near as good. It’s just a big slide in a big rubber ring. Good fun though. My favourite slides were the crush ‘n’ gusher “water coaster” as it’s a longer slide and takes you up and down a few times. You can ride it in 2s or 3s, and I’d do the double ring, because for some reason, the triple inflatable has holes in the bottom and it was fairly painful on the bum!

Sorry – I haven’t got any photos of Typhoon Lagoon. I’ll try and do a video clip of the big waves though soon.
