Indian Summer

Escaped Princess Dress

I’ve just bought a massive box full of slightly damaged ¬†Indian silk shawls, salwar ¬†and kameez ready for me to cut up and upcycle into beautiful clothing, so this is an ongoing collection. So far I have nine items ready for sale at Oshun. Here are some of them.

    Hi Helen,

I came across your website and I loved it! Have you created those dresses yourself? I’m a big fan of Indian clothes, they look so nice and colourful! I’ll keep reading your blog! (I apologize for the spelling mistakes, I’m still learning English).

Thank you! Yes I have created those clothes myself – I started out with an item of Indian clothing, and then altered them in some way or another – usually adding loads more material to make fairytale dresses. I can’t take credit for the beading and embroidery; that is all part of the original fabric.
(Don’t worry – your English is very good!)
