Today marks the one year anniversary of when, by the light of my mobile phone, we found the keys under a flowerpot for our new house. Wow! I cannot believe it’s been a year already; but on the other hand, I do feel like a visitor when I go back to Tonbridge; and I do feel I belong here now. I have no regrets about our relocation at all. Here’s a list of a few things I’ve discovered.

Finding the floor

Finding the floor

I spent ages trawling the internet for advice for old wooden floors, and eventually found some. Hopefully this will help if you’re looking as well. Most advice I found related to Victorian floorboards and polishing them so they’re smooth and shiny. I didn’t want that at all for my seventeenth century elm boards, so this it what I did.

I know, it does sound a bit Lah de Dah, but I only have a dressing room because the bedroom is too small for wardrobes. Oh all right, and I do have a lot of clothes – but that’s mainly because I never get rid of any, not that I just buy a lot! Ok, it’s my piece of luxury.
